Background
NGC 6683 is a small, modest open cluster in Scutum embedded in a notably rich Milky Way starfield. Easy to overlook since it does not stand out brightly above the surrounding star density.
My Observing Notes
25-cm (Meade 10-inch LX200, The Coffee Grinder): Lies in a beautifully rich starry field. Within the rich field sits a slightly denser pocket of stars, not much brighter than the surrounding field — hard to pick out from context.(Saturday, June 2025)
