Background
NGC 6067 is a bright, rich open cluster 1,900 light-years away in Norma, embedded in a particularly dense region of the Milky Way. Around 100 million years old, 250 stars including several yellow and red supergiants which give the cluster its colourful character.
My Observing Notes
44-cm (Club 17.5-inch f/5): A bright (mag 5.6) cluster sitting in a rich starfield (sharp contrast to the barren field in Sculptor). Framed by a trapezium of brighter stars. Pockets of colour scattered throughout — two pairs of orange/reddish stars and a deep coppery-red star at the top. Also easily found manually with the 10-inch using the Telrad on the brighter Milky Way patch through Circinus from the Pointers.(Saturday, September 2025)
