Background
NGC 4852 is a faint open cluster ( 9th magnitude) in Centaurus near the border with Crux. About 4,000 light-years away. Pleasing chains of stars give it more visual structure than its neighbour NGC 5138.
My Observing Notes
25-cm (Meade 10-inch LX200, The Coffee Grinder): Closely follows NGC 5138; would also have benefited from a wider field of view. More structure than NGC 5138 — chains of stars create a pleasant field.(Thursday, April 2025)
