Background

NGC 2658 is a loose open cluster about 5,500 light-years away in Pyxis. A modest naked-eye target at  9th magnitude.

My Observing Notes

44-cm (Club 17.5-inch f/5): While in Pyxis observing NGC 2818, decided to hunt down NGC 2658 too — made easy by its proximity to α Pyxidis.(10 April 2026)
